The Detroit Lions continued their remarkable season on Sunday when they got past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-23, in order to advance to the NFC Championship Game.
There, they will face the San Francisco 49ers, giving them a chance to advance to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
Quarterback Jared Goff completed 30 of 43 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way, and in doing so, he became only the third QB in NFL history to lead two different franchises to at least 14 wins in a season, including the playoffs, joining only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, per Dov Kleiman and CBS Sports.
Only QBs in #NFL history to win 14 or more games in a season for multiple franchises:
– Jared Goff – #Lions and #Rams
– Tom Brady – #Patriots and #Buccaneers
– Peyton Manning – #Colts and #Broncos

Goff had led the Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl during the 2018 season, where they lost to Brady and the New England Patriots during their last burst of glory.
Back then, even though he had been named to the Pro Bowl twice, there was a perception that while he was a decent quarterback, he wasn’t anything special.
Looking to get over the hump, the Rams traded Goff to the Lions in 2021 for Matthew Stafford, the quarterback who led them to the world championship that very season.
But since then, Goff has seemingly raised his game, and it is no coincidence that Detroit has risen at the same time.
They won eight of their final 10 games last year, and this year they finished 12-5, their best record since 1991.
Goff has led an offense this year that finished fifth in points and second in passing yards, and that offense will look to overcome a physical 49ers defense on Sunday.
