Coming into the 2022 NFL season, the Detroit Lions were expected to be one of the worst teams in football, and despite getting some more fans on board as a result of being on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” last summer, with everyone liking head coach Dan Campbell, the expectations were the same.

However, Campbell’s intensity, love for his players, and ability to bring it all together in Detroit took the Lions to another level in 2022, resulting in the struggling franchise finishing with a winning record of 9-8 and coming just short of making the NFL playoffs.

The Lions finished in second place in the NFC North standings and started to gain some buzz as a potential dark horse in the conference if they were able to get into the playoffs.

Even though the team fell just short of the postseason last year, this year, the Lions are getting a lot of hype, with some believing this team can win the division and make some noise in the postseason.

Veteran quarterback Jared Goff recently spoke about those high expectations coming into the 2023 NFL season on NFL Network.

Goff is no stranger to dealing with pressure and high expectations coming into a season, as he dealt with that during his time with the Los Angeles Rams, especially as a No. 1 overall draft pick.

The veteran quarterback was asked whether the momentum from the end of last season will carry over to this upcoming season, and he remained humble, as he knows the team will have the toughest challenge of any team in Week 1 against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

One thing Goff has going for him moving forward is the talented offensive line he has in front of him, and he admitted that group is very special and how fortunate he is to get that kind of protection, which will bode well for Detroit in 2023.
