Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic knows what failure feels like.
After all, he failed miserably in 2021 and 2022 at the MLB level after a couple of years at the top of prospect lists.
But he is not someone who gives up quickly.
He worked hard in spring training both on his swing mechanics and mentally, and was excellent in the month of March.
Will 2023 be the year in which he finally translates his obvious physical gifts into a successful baseball career?
The first few games were a bit rocky, but there might not be a man in MLB hotter than Kelenic at the moment.
Now, he is capable of doing this at the MLB level:

482 feet.
That’s the longest home run hit by a Mariner in the Statcast era, since 2015.
JK has gone 9-for-18 with three home runs, two doubles, and five RBI over his last five games.
He has homered in three-straight games if we include that bomb.
He entered the day hitting .333/.405/.636 with two homers.
Now, those numbers are even better.
And he doesn’t look ready to stop.
As we often say in professional sports, the game finally slowed down for him.
He seems more mature, he knows what pitches to attack and which ones to take, and perhaps more importantly, he is better at dealing with failure.
Truth be told, it has been a joy to watch Kelenic hit and play in 2023.
He is now reaping the benefits after those long days and weeks of hard work over the offseason.
