The Boston Celtics have plenty of depth at every position, but they also have something not many other teams do, which is two legitimate stars.
For years, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have taken turns taking over games and making sure to lead their team.
When they’re both at their best, the Celtics are pretty much unstoppable.
Still, that doesn’t happen all the time, and the media and the fans have been overly critical of them in the playoffs.
However, it seems like Brown has finally gotten the respect he deserves, but that’s not the case with Tatum.
Recently, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd claimed that Brown was their best player, stating that he does his job on both ends of the floor, which is what the best players usually do (via Justin Turpin).
Jason Kidd on Jaylen Brown:
“Jaylen is their best player.”

Perhaps that was a subtle jab at Tatum, or perhaps he was just trying to bait him into shooting over double and triple-teams.
Maybe he truly believes that.
Whatever the case, the fact of the matter is that Brown has been the best player for the Celtics in the postseason, whether it’s because of the defensive looks teams are giving Tatum or just because he has stepped up.
The Mavericks are down 0-1 and didn’t look good on either side of the court in Game 1.
But Kidd is a savvy veteran who knows all the tricks, and it’ll be interesting to see if he’s just playing mind games with Tatum and how the Celtics will deal with this going forward.
