The Dallas Mavericks entered Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on a mission.
After winning the first three games of the series, the Minnesota Timberwolves stole Game 4 from them at home.
Some fans and analysts indicated that the Timberwolves just needed one win to keep themselves going, and that could propel them to winning the rest of the games in the series.
However, the Mavericks came out firing in Game 5, getting out to a double-digit lead early, and not letting the Timberwolves get into any semblance of a rhythm.
After dominating the Timberwolves the entire game, head coach Jason Kidd spoke to reporters in a postgame press conference, discussing the brilliance of his team, especially Luka Doncic.
“He took the crowd out of the game right off the bat… He was ready to go, as a leader, that’s what you need,” Kidd said.

Doncic was an MVP candidate this year, a true force of nature that was put on full display throughout the entire season to this point.
He has been excellent throughout the playoffs, and put on a show in Game 5, as Kidd suggested in his postgame presser.
Doncic finished the game with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.
If he keeps this level of production up moving forward, the Boston Celtics could have a tough time slowing this team down in the Finals.
Does Donic have more gas in the tank for the Finals, where he could have a difficult matchup with the two stars from the Celtics roster?
