After their Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Seattle Seahawks realized they needed reinforcements.

Two of their starting offensive linemen are not likely to play in Week 2, which could cause turmoil for Geno Smith and the rest of the offense.

In a corresponding move, the Seahawks added longtime veteran Jason Peters to the practice squad.

While many fans expected Peters to play right away, his recent comments have provided uncertainty.

Peters was recently asked by Curtis Crabtree of FOX 13 when he expects to play.

He responded, “Maybe this Sunday. Maybe a couple weeks. I just got to get a feel for the pads.”

Jason Peters said he thinks the Seahawks reached out to him on Sunday night with interest.

How soon can he play?

“Maybe this Sunday. Maybe a couple weeks. I just got to get a feel for the pads. I haven’t had them on since January. So that’s going to take some time,” he said.

With Peters’ status unknown, the Seahawks’ offensive line could face more difficulties in Week 2.

They are slated to match up with the Detroit Lions, who are no longer a pushover on the schedule.

If the Lions’ defensive line is as good as advertised, the Seahawks will have their work cut out for them.

Aidan Hutchinson returned to form in Week 1, as he and the Lions’ defensive line made it tough for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Without Peters, the Seahawks will be forced to start two backups on the line.

If that is the case, Smith will need to keep his head on a swivel.

Smith went viral last week for yelling when Aaron Donald was right in his face, spiking the ball before taking a monster sack.

How will he fare this week, knowing Peters’ unknown status?
