The Washington Commander got a glimpse of their future early on Saturday.

Jayden Daniels looked very impressive in his first taste of NFL action.

The No. 2 pick looked anxious on his first throw, an incomplete screen pass intended for veteran RB Austin Ekeler.

Then, on third and six, the LSU star looked in control in the pocket, scanned the field, and launched an absolute bomb to a wide-open Dyami Brown for a 42-yard completion.

Daniels then showcased his mobility by walking into the end-zone on third-and-goal to score his first career touchdown, giving the ball to his mother shortly after (via Rudy Gersten).

To make things even more impressive, reporters claimed that Daniels actually audibled the play that led to that 42-yard bomb.

Of course, it’s just the preseason, and it’s early to tell, but the early returns were very encouraging.

He finished the game with 45 passing yards on 2-of-3.

Daniels is expected to make a big impact right out of the gate.

Picking apart the New York Jets’ backups was a first taste of NFL action, and he’ll have a green light to make plays as soon as he takes the field when it actually counts.

Some people continue to sleep on the Commanders despite their plethora of offensive playmakers and new-look coaching staff.

And while it definitely won’t be easy and it won’t be pretty at times either, Daniels has the tools and talent to turn things around for this ever-struggling franchise sooner rather than later.
