The Washington Commanders made the slam-dunk selection to take Jayden Daniels at No. 2 overall in the NFL Draft this year.

The former Heisman Trophy Winner was arguably the best player in America last year.

Now, he has his eyes set on his upcoming rookie season.

On the “All Facts No Breaks” podcast, Daniels recently was asked by former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson if he anticipates starting Week 1.

“I’m confident in my abilities…They said whenever I’m ready, I’m ready. So whenever I feel like I’m ready, I’m ready,” Daniels said.

On the Commanders roster, there are four quarterbacks as things stand right now.

Daniels is joined by veterans Marcus Mariota, Jeff Driskel, and Jake Fromm.

The only way Daniels wouldn’t start Week 1 is if head coach Dan Quinn decided to start the most capable NFL quarterback on the team, which is presently Mariota, who is about to enter his 10th NFL season.

Most teams tend to go the route of starting the veteran backup for the first few weeks of the season so that the rookie can get his footing under him.

Mariota and Daniels have the same skillset too.

Both won the Heisman in college, and both are dual-threat quarterbacks.

With his immediate impact that he could make on the field, the Commanders wouldn’t be making a poor decision at all to start the former LSU Tiger right away.

After all, the only way players can get their feet wet in the NFL is through actual experience on the field.
