The Boston Celtics have made it more than clear that they want to keep Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum together for the long run.
The young duo has made great strides in the league, taking big steps and even reaching the NBA Finals, but they have yet to finish the job.
That has made a lot of people question whether they’re actually suited to win together, but the Celtics still refuse to break their duo up.
Still, it doesn’t seem like the Celtics intend to do that any time soon, as they’re currently negotiating a contract extension with Brown, and that new deal could set a new record.
According to NBA insider Chad Ricardo, Brown is eligible for a five-year extension worth a whopping $304 million, meaning that he could be making $70 million a year by the final year of his deal.

Of course, it might not be long before Brown’s deal is far from the most lucrative in the league, as the salary cap always goes way up and, as such, max deals are worth way more money.
As a matter of fact, even his own teammate, Jayson Tatum, could set a new mark when he’s eligible for that kind of supermax contract extension next summer.
Ironically, that’s also one of the reasons why the Celtics might look to try and convince Brown to take a little less, as having over $600 million committed to just two players could create major salary-cap issues under the new CBA, thus hurting their chances of putting more talent around them.
