A few years ago, Brad Stevens went from being arguably one of the best head coaches in the NBA to shockingly stepping down and accepting a new role with the Boston Celtics to become the president of basketball operations for the storied franchise.
Although it was a questionable move at the time, the Celtics have had tremendous success ever since, with the team on the cusp of returning to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years on Thursday, playing host to the visiting Dallas Mavericks on Thursday for Game 1 at TD Garden.
Stevens is one of the few who have been able to make this transition from head coach to the front office seamlessly and is arguably better at his new role than he was at the old one, with the Celtics firing on all cylinders with a stacked roster that could be competitive and a potential title contender for many years to come.
Ahead of Game 1, Celtics star Jaylen Brown talked to the media about Stevens’ impact on the storied franchise and praised him for what he’s been able to do for Boston, via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston.
“He’s helped bring this organization back in terms of winning,” Brown said.

Although the Celtics have been one of the most successful teams in the NBA ever since Stevens made his move to the front office, Boston hasn’t been able to win that elusive 18th title, making this series as pressure-filled as it gets.
The Celtics will be under all the pressure to win in the Finals, while the Mavericks have everything to win and nothing to lose, which will create an interesting dynamic between these two teams moving forward.
