The Boston Celtics are just three wins away from winning their 18th NBA championship as they’re currently up 1-0 in the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.
Boston has been the favorites all season long and for good reason as they’ve got the coaching, talent and depth to win it all despite previous disappointing playoff runs.
The Celtics boast two superstars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who are elite two-way players capable of creating their own shots.
Although Tatum had a relatively quiet Game 1, Brown was there to pick him up as led in Boston in scoring with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting in 37 minutes.
Brown has arguably been the Celtics’ best player during the 2024 NBA Playoffs and is showing the league that he can be an alpha on a championship team.
Ahead of Game 2, Brown explained what motivates him via Melissa Rohlin of FOX Sports.
“Getting moved to the bench, even trade talks, getting booed, whatever the fans were saying, overpaid, overrated. All of that stuff made me who I am today,” Brown said.

Brown has definitely been through several ups and downs during his NBA career and is largely seen as Tatum’s wingman despite the former’s playoff performances.
The All-Star was awarded a massive long-term extension last offseason and is making good on it so far.
Although it’s far too early to count the Mavericks out of the Finals because they have Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Celtics are in the driver’s seat and can take a commanding 2-0 lead if Brown continues his strong play.
