Over the years, the Boston Celtics have greatly benefited from the rise of Jaylen Brown.
He has helped the Celtics make some deep playoff runs in recent years and is currently viewed as one of the best players in the league at his position.
Keeping that in mind, it was a pleasant surprise when Brown announced that he would participate in the NBA Slam Dunk contest this year.
While Brown is not known for flashy dunks during games, it was still a breath of fresh air to see an NBA All-Star participate in the iconic competition.
Following the Slam Dunk contest, Brown shared his honest feelings about taking part in the competition for the first time in his career via Legion Hoops on Twitter.
“I think, ultimately, in this media era, some players are just afraid to get turned into a meme or whatever,” Brown said.

Considering Brown didn’t win the NBA Slam Dunk contest, it was a surprise that he at least participated.
While it’s good to know that Brown enjoyed participating in the Dunk contest, his dunks could have been better.
If that had been the case, the Celtics superstar could have stopped Mac McClung from winning his second-straight NBA Slam Dunk contest.
