The Utah Jazz want to be one of the most exciting teams in the Western Conference but that requires a few tweaks to the roster that will put them in playoff contention.

They just made a big move on Wednesday morning.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that free agent guard Patty Mills has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Jazz.

This guaranteed deal will bring Mills, a 16-year veteran, to a team that has been quietly laying the groundwork for a bright future.

Mills is fresh off another Olympic performance for his home country of Australia and just finished a season that saw him split his time between the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.

He has a career average of 8.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists and has played for teams like the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Brooklyn Nets.

His days with the Spurs were probably his most memorable and Mills was part of the championship-winning squad from San Antonio in 2013-14.

What will he bring to the table in Utah?

Plenty of veteran experience, of course, and a lot of postseason knowledge too.

The Jazz have been assembling a team of promising young players as well as a plethora of draft capital.

That means they might not be amazing this season but could be a true force in the years ahead.

All young players need someone to guide them and Mills could bring that to the locker room and the court.

He put up 4 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists last season but wasn’t used that often.

Will the Jazz call upon Mills a lot in 2024-25?
