The Utah Jazz are entering a transition era.

The word around the league is that they’re looking to offload their veterans, with John Collins, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, and Lauri Markkanen most likely heading out the door.

That means the youth movement will move at full steam in Salt Lake City, and the young players will have to take a major leap forward next season.

Notably, Keyonte George looks up to the task, at least judging by his recent performance in Summer League.

The Baylor product dominated in his team’s overtime win over the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring 30 points to go along with four assists, four rebounds, three three-pointers, and the game-winning free-throws.

Of course, we’ve all seen how meaningless Summer League can be in terms of numbers or even wins, but it could be an indicator for those players who are more ready to make an impact than others.

George became a more prominent part of the Jazz’s rotation towards the end of last season, and he could have an expanded role in 2024-25.

The former No. 16 pick is a talented three-level scorer.

A former five-star recruit at shooting guard, coach Will Hardy had him running the point often, and that could be the case again next season, especially if they end up moving Sexton as expected.

The Jazz won’t win many games for the foreseeable future, but they’ve stacked a decent pool of talented players, and it’ll be interesting to see whether one of them ends up becoming a star.
