The Los Angeles Lakers have revealed the latest statue honoring the late, great Kobe Bryant.
The new statue outside of Crypto.com Arena didn’t just give fans another look at Kobe but also his late daughter Gigi, who also passed away with him in January of 2020.
Speaking with Spectrum SportsNet, Lakers CEO and president Jeanie Buss spoke about the statue and what it means.
She said that it gave all fans some “personal time to reflect on why they were so important to us” and is very happy with the results.

A few months ago, the Lakers unveiled the first Kobe statue, one that honored the late champion in all his glory.
At that event, the team also announced that two more statues would be coming.
This is the second and the first to feature Gigi as well.
It also has a quote from Kobe, one where he speaks about how much it meant to him to be a proud “girl dad.”
Buss said that is an important part of this statue and speaks to Kobe’s love for his daughter and her potential and skill.
Many people believed that Gigi was on her way to playing professional basketball.
With her legendary father and her abilities, Gigi could have been in the WNBA in a few years.
Sadly, the world will never get to see her play in the league and won’t be able to witness her dad sitting courtside rooting her on.
But this statue with both of them is a wonderful homage to the two Lakers legends.
