Jeff Teague was part of the Milwaukee Bucks’ championship-winning team in 2021.
The Bucks had to fight hard to get to the Finals, competing against multiple tough opponents.
Speaking to Draymond Green, per The Volume and ClutchPoints, Teague said he remembers the moment he knew the Bucks were going to win the Finals.
He felt the Bucks were already special but when Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets hurt his ankle in the second round of the playoffs, Teague knew the championship would be theirs.
“You could tell we had something… We knew, we get past [the Nets], we was winning the championship.”

The Bucks had been on a roll all season long.
When they entered the playoffs, they faced off against the Miami Heat, who they easily defeated in four games.
But then came the Brooklyn Nets, who were powered by the skills of Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden.
The Nets were plagued by injuries throughout that series, but they were still able to bring it to seven games.
Teague said that when Irving went out with his ankle injury, it became clear that the Bucks could claim the title.
That is exactly what they did.
They took out the Nets and then faced the Atlanta Hawks.
After beating the Hawks, they battled the Phoenix Suns in the Finals and beat them in six games.
That happened to be Teague’s last season and he retired after that.
He went out on a high and was able to experience a moment that all NBA players hope for.
Milwaukee’s talent was unparalleled during that season but Teague admits that an unfortunate injury to the Nets opened a pathway to the championship.
