The New York Knicks have arguably been one of the disappointing teams in the NBA for quite a long time, as the team in the biggest market in the country hasn’t been able to right the ship since the Patrick Ewing era.
Fortunately for New York, the future looks incredibly promising, with point guard Jalen Brunson turning into a legitimate superstar since leaving the Dallas Mavericks in favor of the Big Apple.
Brunson’s emergence as a superstar and the team’s placement of the right pieces around him, like former Villanova teammates Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo, has turned out to be a recipe for success for the Knicks.
As long as the Knicks brass can continue to add talent to the roster, New York could be a title contender sooner rather than later, which former Knicks head coach Jeff Van Gundy seems to believe after the 2023-24 campaign via SiriusXM NBA Radio.
“They’re going to be a handful for anybody going forward,” Van Gundy said.

Although head coach Tom Thibodeau has gotten a lot of criticism for how he’s coached the team, there’s no doubt that he’s getting the best from his players, who seem to go all out on both ends of the basketball floor on a nightly basis.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Knicks do during the NBA offseason and whether the storied franchise can make some game-changing moves to improve the team’s chance of competing with the Boston Celtics and the other heavyweights in the Eastern Conference.
