After flaming out in epic fashion in the first round of the NFL playoffs last year, the Dallas Cowboys headed into the offseason with many questions about what moves the team would make before the 2024 NFL season.
Although longtime owner Jerry Jones seemed to promise the team would be aggressive during the offseason, the complete opposite has taken place with more questions than answers for America’s Team, which hasn’t been a great look for the storied franchise.
There was a lot of speculation that the Cowboys would fire head coach Mike McCarthy and sign star quarterback Dak Prescott to a lucrative long-term contract extension, but neither move took place, leaving many confused about the direction of the team moving forward.
Even though some believe that Prescott doesn’t deserve an extension due to his inability to have success in the postseason, Jones has been adamant about signing him to another massive deal that could reset the quarterback market and appears to have doubled down on that promise in a strange way via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
“We’re buying time,” Jones said. “We’re an option quarterback and we haven’t handed it off or pitched it. We’re trying to make our mind up on what to do. Does that sound like Patrick Mahomes to you?”

This video of Jones is confusing and makes the situation in Dallas that much more uncertain moving forward because no one knows what the team is doing at this point in time, especially with the longtime owner still calling the shots.
Only time will tell what happens with the Cowboys, but it seems clear that things aren’t going well, and this upcoming season could be rough if this franchise can’t get back on track.
