The Dallas Cowboys may have been embarrassed in the Wild Card Round by the Green Bay Packers, but the foundation of the roster is still good enough to compete in the postseason.
Dallas was one of the best teams down the stretch of the 2023 NFL season, and that should be a positive for owner Jerry Jones who has done everything he can to put the best talent on the field.
Jones has been proactive in looking for upgrades wherever he can on the roster, and there’s no reason to believe he’ll stop now.
Dak Prescott showed real flashes of superstardom during their winning streak as he overcame a slow start and found his groove throwing the football.
Prescott is set to enter the final year of his deal and the biggest question of the offseason for Dallas is whether or not they’ll be able to extend him.
Jones himself left the possibility open though he acknowledged it’ll take buy-in from both sides via Jon Machota of The Athletic.
“We don’t need to, but we can if everybody wants to solve it,” Jones said.

Jones is right that the organization could wait until next offseason to re-sign Prescott, but getting an extension done now might save them money in the long run.
Quarterbacks are getting handsomely paid nowadays and there’s no doubt that Prescott would like to cash in on his 2023 performance.
While Jones’ answer doesn’t sound very committal, he’s at least leaving the option open for the Cowboys and Prescott to come to terms on a deal that makes sense for everyone.
