Former NBA Coach of the Year Dwane Casey will no longer be in charge of the Detroit Pistons.

He’ll take a different role within the organization while someone else handles the coaching duties.

Needless to say, such an appealing job opening should gauge a lot of interest among current and former NBA coaches, not to mention several assistants and even some prominent figures from the college basketball world.

With that in mind, a report by 247 Sports stated that former NBA guard Jerry Stackhouse was ‘very interested’ in coaching the Pistons, raising the alarms among Vanderbilt fans.

One, called Lisa, urged coach Stackhouse to stay with the Commodores, but the two-time All-Star had plenty to say.

Stackhouse claimed that those reporters don’t have access to either him or Vanderbilt hoops and that they were just trying to cater to the few irrational Commodores fans.

Lisa,
Don’t listen to these ’s. It’s beguilement in the highest form. They have NO ACCESS to me or @VandyMBB so they choose to cater to the irrational and divisive 5.8% of Commodore Nation.#BEUS #dontfallforit #sources

So, it’s more than clear that Stackhouse has no interest whatsoever in leaving the program, at least for the time being.

The Pistons will still have several options to choose from for their new coach.

They’ll reportedly favor someone with a successful track record on player development, which is no surprise considering how young their roster is.

There’s no way the Pistons couldn’t replicate what the Oklahoma City Thunder did this season, which is why it became clear as day that they needed a change of direction right now.

As for the Commodores, they can breathe and relax knowing their coach wants to be there through thick and thin.
