The New York Jets are working to sort out their roster during the early portions of training camp to ensure they can live up to the lofty expectations fans are placing on them due to a strong offseason and the return of Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.
Part of that process involves finding fresh bodies to fill out the practice squad and potentially make the final roster, and the team recently made four roster moves with that goal in mind.
The Jets’ official X account tweeted that they have signed quarterback Adrian Martinez and cornerback Kendall Sheffield while waiving corner Nehemiah Shelton and QB Ben Bryant.

Martinez is fresh off an MVP season in the UFL as he led his Birmingham Stallions to the UFL Championship while throwing for 1,749 yards and 15 touchdowns while also leading the league in rushing yards with 528.
He spent last preseason with the Detroit Lions after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska.
Sheffield was a 4th-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2019 and registered 101 tackles, six pass deflections, and two forced fumbles with Atlanta from 2019-2021 before spending last season on the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans practice squads.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was a defensive assistant and coordinator with the Falcons during Sheffield’s time there, so he will be stepping into a familiar situation.
These are two interesting depth signings that could stick around for a while, as both have plenty of talent and fill a need on this roster.
Keep an eye out to see if either one can make the team.
