The NFL had its fair share of exciting moments during Week 1, though they tried to save the best for last when they had the Buffalo Bills take on the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
In an AFC East battle between two Super Bowl contenders, fans were in store for an exciting matchup that featured Aaron Rodgers’ debut with the Jets.
However, New York fans didn’t get to savor the moment for very long as Rodgers went down with an injury on the first series of the game and was later ruled out for the night.
Despite Rodgers’ absence, though, the Bills and Jets put on a scrappy and gritty game that featured more defensive highlights than offensive ones.
Zach Wilson threw a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson in the fourth quarter to force overtime where New York managed a walk-off punt return touchdown.
The high-profile matchup between the Bills and Jets was thrilling and in the process broke a record via ESPN.
It was the most watched Monday Night Football game ever.

The NFL knew what it was doing when it pit two New York teams against one another in a primetime slot and it worked as fans across the nation couldn’t help but tune in to the first MNF of the regular season.
Although the night was dampened by Rodgers’ early exit, the league and its fans were still treated to an exciting game that left most satisfied.
It’s hard to imagine when the next time MNF will draw that many viewers, but it does indicate that there’s plenty of interest in what happens this year.
