The New York Jets-Haason Reddick contract situation is still trying to figure itself out.

In his effort to earn a new deal, the Pro-Bowler in Reddick has held himself out of all team activities and stayed away from the facility.

However, GM Joe Douglas has continued to stay in communication with Reddick and his representatives throughout the process.

“I would say (the communication has been) clear and direct from the beginning…Whenever he is ready to come here, again, we can’t wait to have him,” Douglas recently said in front of the New York media.

If the Jets could find a way to get Reddick back, they may have arguably the best defense in football.

Their front, led by Pro Bowl defensive linemen Quinnen Williams and Jermaine Johnson, is already stout.

Other All-Pro and Pro Bowl-caliber players such as linebackers C.J. Mosely and Quincy Williams, as well as shutdown corner Sauce Gardner, headline the defense as well.

Reddick has been one of the league’s most underrated edge-rushers over the last few years.

Despite the Jets being his fourth team in the last five years, he has stayed very consistent when it comes to bringing the heat off the edge.

He has recorded 11+ sacks, 10+ tackles for loss, and 15+ quarterback hits in four consecutive seasons.

If the Jets are willing to find common ground with him and pay him what seems fair, that could be the key to getting him back in the building.

Time will tell whether or not Douglas and Co. can get that done.
