The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets made a deal that seemed promising at first, but it’s starting to backfire now.

Veteran pass rusher Haason Reddick continues to hold out from training camp.

Now the team had no choice but to place him on the reserve/did not report list, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Reddick reportedly has no intention whatsoever to show up to training camp, and the Jets won’t engage in contract talks until he shows up, so this is a big stalemate.

The 29-year-old is slated to make $14.2 million this season.

He’s in the final year of his contract, and he’s looking to get a significant pay raise after being one of the prime head-hunters in the game for the past five years or so.

A recent report said that the Jets actually made him an offer for a contract extension before trading for him but he turned it down.

The Jets reportedly told him that they would bump up their offer based on his performance, and he reportedly agreed.

That’s why the team might not feel happy about the way he’s dealt with this situation, and he’ll now be subjected to fines of $50,000 for each day of his holdout.

The Jets need Reddick and his production and ability to put pressure on the other team’s passer, especially after losing Bryce Huff this offseason.

But if there’s no good faith in negotiations, this situation might not end well for Robert Saleh’s team.
