Jets Have Started Extension Talks With Notable Defender

The New York Jets have somehow managed to hang around in the AFC playoff race after picking up their fourth win of the 2023 NFL season this past weekend against the New York Giants.

The Jets were able to outlast the Giants in overtime and take home a 13-10 win.

While it may have been a battle of attrition, the Jets understand that the strength of their roster is the defense and thus will happily take these sorts of ugly wins if it means staying afloat.

There’s hope that Aaron Rodgers can return at some point during the season, but the team can’t feasibly bank on that possibility in the short-term.

Defensively, the Jets have been an elite unit that is great at both containing the run game and limiting opposing teams’ passing attacks.

One large reason for that is Bryce Huff and the Jets are reportedly in talks with his representation on a contract extension, via Dov Kleiman.

Update: The #Jets and Pass-Rusher Bryce Huff have had contract extension talks, per the team.

Huff, an undrafted free-agent in 2020, has 3.5 sacks this season and 11 sacks in his career along with 31 QB Hits.

Huff has been a revelation for the Jets defense as he simply wins his matchups and gets to opposing quarterbacks on a regular basis.

Pass rushers are at a premium in the NFL, so for the Jets to land one of the best ones in undrafted free agency has made building out their roster a lot easier.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of guaranteed money Huff is able to get from New York, but it should be a significant raise given what he’s meant to the defensive line and the defense as a whole this year.
