The New York Jets have made their most important decision of the season.

Aaron Rodgers will officially be activated off the Injured Reserve (IR) list.

However, HC Robert Saleh doesn’t want the fans to get too carried away or ahead of themselves.

Instead, he wanted to make it loud and clear that this was just the next step in his recovery, adding that having him on the field was going to be very positive for everybody, his teammates included (via Mike Garafolo).

Robert Saleh: “We’re still going to keep him on the active. … It’s all part of his rehab. Just having him on the field is a plus for everybody, for him and his teammates.” https://t.co/PtitN7eyFy

Simply put, this is just a technicality, and it doesn’t mean that Rodgers is going to suit up and play in Week 16, or maybe at all this season.

Rodgers recently admitted that even though he’s made great strides, he’s still not ready to play and not close to 100%.

Perhaps his goal of coming back in-season won’t be able to become a reality after all, mostly because of the fact that the Jets failed to make it to the playoffs.

Even so, his efforts to get back on the field this very same season were inspirational and could lead to some major medical breakthroughs.

People need so study the way he handled his recovery and rehab process, as some athletes need over six months to get to the point where he is now, and we’re talking about a 40-year-old with a lot of mileage under his belt.

There’s still a slim chance that we’ll see him on the field this season, but we wouldn’t put our money on it.
