The New York Jets got a very emotional and much-needed win Monday night.

Losing Aaron Rodgers on the first drive of the game was a brutal blow for Robert Saleh’s team, and MetLife Stadium went dead silent right away.

That’s why it was so important for the rest of the team to rally together and get the win in the season opener, even against all odds.

With that in mind, Jets legend Joe Namath took to Twitter to congratulate the team for this hard-fought win, praising Zach Wilson for being able to handle the heat when his number was called upon and wishing Rodgers a speedy recovery.

Phew! What a night. Congratulations on a big win against a top notch team! Zach, ya done well! It was a solid team effort on both sides of the ball, no doubt. And like the rest of Jets Nation I’m hoping for a speedy recovery for Aaron.

It wasn’t easy, and it definitely wasn’t pretty.

The Jets defense was as good as advertised, but it also took some head-scratching mistakes from Josh Allen to get the job done.

Whatever; they’ll take it.

Next on deck, they’ll have a road game versus the brutal defense of the Dallas Cowboys, and that means trouble for the Jets’ shaky offensive line and Wilson.

Granted that Dak Prescott isn’t intimidating by any means, and that the New York defense will also keep him on his toes and likely force multiple turnovers, the Cowboys still pose a bigger threat than the Bills.

As for Rodgers, he’s likely to miss the remainder of the season, and some believe this might be the end of his career as a whole.

The Jets will continue to roll with Wilson for the time being, and barring a major disaster or turn of events, they don’t intend to pursue another veteran to be the starter.
