Ever since they reached back-to-back AFC Championship Games in 2009 and 2010, the New York Jets have been stuck in the wilderness.
They haven’t made the playoffs since, and they have finished with a winning record just once since 2010.
But the 2022 season brought new hope for long-suffering fans of the team, as the team got off to a 5-2 start and came within a hair of returning to the postseason.
When future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently said he wants to play for the Jets next season, a wave of excitement washed over fans from central New Jersey to the edge of Long Island.
Woody Johnson, the owner of the team, said that the reaction inside the organization was pretty much the same.
Woody Johnson, speaking to a few reporters, on the reaction when Aaron Rodgers said he wanted to play for the #Jets: “I know that the reaction of the building was pretty high and everybody was pretty excited about having a player of that caliber.” #Jets

The Jets are currently engaged in trade talks with the Green Bay Packers to bring Rodgers to the New York City area, but it may take some time for a deal to be completed, as there is reportedly no timetable.
Although his arrival may not make the team a lock to reach the playoffs, as the rest of the conference is deep and getting even deeper, there is no doubt the team has already assembled an intriguing roster.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson took home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after posting 1,103 yards and four touchdowns last season, and New York also boasted the fourth-best scoring defense in the NFL, thanks in part to the Defensive Rookie of the Year, cornerback Sauce Gardner.
They also recently acquired wideout Allen Lazard, who was one of Rodgers’ favorite targets in Green Bay over the last few years.
