The New York Jets just got a massive injury boost ahead of Sunday’s NYC derby vs. the New York Giants.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, star CBs Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed will be back on the field after clearing the concussion protocol.

Both star defenders missed their win over the Philadelphia Eagles with a concussion, and they were still in the protocol to start the week.

But with a couple of full practices on Wednesday and Thursday, it seemed like it was just a matter of time before they were officially cleared.

Now, HC Robert Saleh has announced that they’re both active and expected to play their usual snaps vs. their city rivals.

The fact that the Jets were able to slow down the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense without two of their best players makes that win even more impressive.

The Jets have one of the best defenses in the league, and that ‘next man up’ mentality has also done wonders for the team after Aaron Rodgers fell with an injury in the first game of the season.

Sitting on a 3-3 record and with a date with a beatable team ahead of them, the Jets should feel quite good about themselves right now.

The playoffs aren’t out of sight, and they could even still make a run at the AFC East Division.

Of course, plenty of that will also depend on whether Zach Wilson continues to improve and finds his groove at some point in the season, but this defense will definitely give them a chance to win every game.
