After three straight losses following their season-opening win against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets were able to get back in the win column on Sunday, with Zach Wilson and company coming out on top against the Denver Broncos on the road.
Even though the win over the Broncos was a huge morale boost for the Jets, with the team rallying around offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett following the critical comments from Sean Payton during the NFL offseason, the second win of the season came at a cost for New York.
As if losing superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles injury wasn’t bad enough, the same injury has taken out the team’s best offensive lineman, Alijah Vera-Tucker.
Vera-Tucker suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the win over the Broncos, and now the Jets have a gaping hole on their offensive line moving forward.
In an effort to fill the void left by Vera-Tucker, the Jets brought in offensive tackle La’El Collins this week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Free agent OT La’El Collins worked out for the #Jets, per the wire. Would be an interesting addition.

Collins spent most of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys before playing for the Cincinnati Bengals last season and then going unsigned during this past offseason.
Adding Collins would be a step in the right direction for the Jets as long as he’s healthy and in shape, but it remains to be seen whether he impressed the team enough in order to get offered a contract.
The offensive line has been a problem for the Jets all season, and unless they can figure out how to plug this hole, it’ll likely get that much worse.
