The New York Jets entered the offseason with clear needs on the roster and they did well to address most of them via free agency, the trade market, and the 2024 NFL Draft.

The offensive line was the team’s biggest need, especially after poor protection cost Aaron Rodgers his first year in New York after he suffered a torn Achilles.

The Jets rebuilt their offensive line with savvy moves to give Rodgers more protection, but they also invested heavily into their running back room to perhaps ease the burden on the quarterback.

Breece Hall is slated to be the workhorse back after coming back healthy in 2023, but New York added several intriguing options behind him.

The biggest addition was Braelon Allen whom the team took No. 134 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Allen was one of a handful of backs that heard their name called on Day 3 of the draft and looks in line to secure the No. 2 spot behind Hall.

Listed at 6’1″ and 245 pounds, Allen is one of the bigger running backs in the league and his physique had some fans buzzing via NFL Rookie Watch.

“Braelon Allen might be the BIGGEST running back in the NFL.”

Oh, and he’s the youngest player in the ENTIRE LEAGUE (Jan. 20, 2004)

Love it! Let’s see if the Jets can set up their offense and develop this guy. It would be a blast to see if he can bring it on game day.

Derrick Henry is widely considered the most physically imposing running back in the league, though Allen is up there with his height, size and strength.

While not a home-run threat like Hall, Allen can churn for extra yardage using his frame which could be useful in short-yardage situations or at the goal line.

Allen might not contribute a ton as a rookie, but there’s certainly an upside to be had.
