In their history as an NFL franchise, the New York Jets have never been able to come away with a victory in 12 matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Well, the Jets will make their 13th attempt on Sunday, and if they’re going to get a win, it will have to be done without two of the best players from the defensive side of the ball.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday, New York won’t have the services of their top two cornerbacks, Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed, as both are currently recovering from concussions.

In a matchup in which they have to attempt to slow down the Eagles dynamic receiving duo of A.J. Browns and DeVonta Smith, that just became a lot harder for the Jets to accomplish with the news about Gardner and Reed.

In their absence, New York is now forced to rely more on the guys who are lower on their cornerback depth chart, like Bryce Hall, Tae Hayes, Michael Carter II, and Craig James.

Surprisingly, the Jets’ pass defense has only been a bit of an average unit this season, even when Gardner and Reed have been on the field.

In their five games, New York ranks 14th in the league in total passing yards allowed and 13th in net yards gained per pass attempt.

On Sunday, the Jets’ defense will be going up against a Philadelphia passing attack that has finished with at least 270 yards through the air in each of their last three games.

Will New York still be able to pull off the upset over the Eagles without Gardner and Reed?
