The Los Angeles Chargers may have lost both of their first two preseason games, but they still have hope that their immediate future will be nothing like their checkered past.

Star quarterback Justin Herbert spent some time in a walking boot after being diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury on July 31, but the boot is off, and he is perhaps on track to playing in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

New head coach Jim Harbaugh is always good for a colorful quote or two, and he gave one when talking about Herbert getting out of that walking boot.

With Herbert returning to practice, Harbaugh said that he “thought I heard music” and perhaps “The voices of angels maybe,” per The 33rd Team.

With Herbert out, the Chargers’ backups looked very lackluster in the team’s 16-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 10 and in its 13-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.

The Bolts didn’t score a single touchdown in either game, and thus it makes sense that Harbaugh is that thrilled to have his QB1 back.

While Harbaugh is looking to remake his new team in his image of defensive-oriented, smash-mouth football, it will likely be a struggle for it on offense.

It lacks any real threats at wide receiver, and its running back room is, at best, merely decent.

But this is a building process for a Chargers organization that has been tortured by years of bad fortune, and establishing Harbaugh’s proven winning program and style of play is first on their list of things to do in order to gain true respectability.
