Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has his eyes set on the College Football Playoff over the next two weeks, but his mind could be on an NFL return in 2024.
Harbaugh has been the head coach at Michigan for the past nine years after he mutually parted ways with the San Francisco 49ers in 2014.
But with a possible NCAA suspension looming after sign-stealing allegations and a couple of enticing job openings in the NFL, Harbaugh could find his way back to the professional league.
He made a move that indicated that possibility, too, when he hired veteran NFL agent Don Yee to represent him, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Yee has deep ties to the NFL: He represents high-profile players like Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo as well as Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
This isn’t enough to speculate wholeheartedly that Harbaugh will leave Michigan for the NFL, but it’s a big step in that direction.
Harbaugh could have his pick of jobs, too, with several big teams either in need of a new coach or likely to fire their current one.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Carolina Panthers already fired their head coaches, while other teams like the Washington Commanders, Atlanta Falcons, and New England Patriots could also move on from their respective coaches.
Harbaugh had success during his tenure with the 49ers, too: He led San Francisco to the Super Bowl in 2012 and had a 44-19-1 record.
He’s built a powerhouse at Michigan, though, and may not want to leave his alma mater for the stressors of the NFL.
