The Kansas City Chiefs overcame the odds again by overcoming a first-half deficit to beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

The Chiefs only mustered three points in the first half, but the coaching staff and players executed their gameplan to perfection in the second half and overtime to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Patrick Mahomes etched his name into history to become one of the few athletes across professional sports to win multiple championships and MVP awards, while head coach Andy Reid is making a case as one of the best coaches in NFL history.

With Mahomes leading Kansas City in the fourth quarter and overtime, it felt like a matter of time until they would score and end the game.

Jim Nantz was on the call when Mahomes hit Mecole Hardman on the right side of the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.

In an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Nantz revealed where he got the inspiration for his “jackpot” call on the touchdown.

“Jim Nantz says Brent Musburger inspired his call of ‘Jackpot, Kansas City!’ after the Chiefs scored the game winning touchdown.”

Brent Musburger used to call games for the Las Vegas Raiders and Nantz acknowledged that he wanted to pay homage to Sin City’s affinity for gamblers.

Nantz is a legendary announcer and it was the perfect call to make at that moment, one that fans should have more appreciation for.

The best announcers are able to be engaging, creative, and exciting and Nantz checked all the boxes during Super Bowl LVIII.
