The Miami Heat have been careless about the regular season.

Year after year, they stumble their way into the playoffs, which is when they take the intensity up a notch and prove what they’re made of.

That’s why Jimmy Butler doesn’t seem to be too worried about the team’s 1-4 start to the season.

When asked about it, Butler stated that they cannot be measured as the same team they were last season, adding that they’re still a work in progress and he has the utmost confidence in the team’s ability to figure things out (via Zach Weinberger and ClutchPoints).

Jimmy Butler on the Heat losing 4 straight games and dropping to 1-4 on the season:

“I think it’s still a work in progress. Last year was last year. It’s completely different this year in a number of ways and we will figure it out… I’m still very confident in this group. I… pic.twitter.com/vj0emKYoGw

The Heat’s approach has worked for them in the sense that they’ve been to the NBA Finals twice in four years, and they’ve reached the Eastern Conference Finals three times with Butler there.

However, they’re making it way more difficult than it has to be.

Not only is their playoff road harder because of the seeding but also they’re completely exhausted by the time they have to play in the NBA Finals.

Erik Spoelstra and company should strongly reconsider their stance in the regular season, as Butler has already rested one game despite the season having started less than three weeks ago.

We already know what this team is capable of, and even though there are some new faces and they did lose two key rotation players like Gabe Vincent and Max Strus, they’ll figure things out eventually.

Even so, they cannot just go through the motions, especially being less talented than most of the actual contenders.
