After a disappointing finish to the 2023-24 NBA season, with the Miami Heat getting knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics, Pat Riley and company could make some drastic moves over the summer.

Following the first-round exit in the playoffs, Riley spoke to the media and tried to make it clear that the team had no intention of trading superstar Jimmy Butler, even though the veteran made some questionable comments, which didn’t sit well with the Heat president.

Over the past few weeks, despite Riley’s stance on Butler’s future with the team, there have been some persistent trade rumors involving the soon-to-be 35-year-old, which has made some believe that he could get moved before the 2024-25 campaign.

Even though Butler’s future may be hanging in the balance, the six-time All-Star seems happy and content during this NBA offseason, as he was recently seen handing out money to fans after winning a poker tournament via Legion Hoops.

Clearly, Butler doesn’t seem too bothered by the speculation this summer, nor is he all that concerned about his bank account, as he handled money to fans without a second thought.

With Butler still considered to be one of the best two-way players in the NBA, it will be interesting to see what the Heat brass do this summer and whether he is truly in Riley and company’s long-term plans for Miami.

The Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as a potential trade suitor, as general manager Daryl Morey and company seem to regret sending Butler to the Heat in the first place and need another star to play alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey moving forward.
