Once Dwyane Wade retired from the NBA, Jimmy Butler took up the mantle as the next great Miami Heat star.
Butler has been a worthy successor to Wade as he has completely embodied “Heat Culture” and is the perfect player to lead the franchise.
So far during his tenure, Butler has managed to guide the Heat to two Finals Appearances and is poised to once again lead them during the 2023-24 season.
The star forward has proven to be one of the best players come postseason time as his effort and tenacity reach elite levels.
Butler’s as battle-tested as they come in the league, though that’s because he’s gone up against some of the best players in NBA history.
For example, Butler discussed what it was like to be opposite of Wade on the court via Clutch Points.
“Whenever I had to play against Dwyane Wade, he was absolutely the hardest person to guard,” Butler said. “You couldn’t touch him because he was a superstar. D-Wade was tough. Now he’s old and washed up.”

In his prime, Wade was a blur in the open court who also had a knack for knifing into the paint and scoring at the rim almost at will.
Couple that with his mid-range jumper, and Wade made for a tough cover for any player including a defensive stalwart like Butler.
The two share a close relationship and there’s no doubt that Wade has imparted whatever wisdom he can onto Butler.
Butler is going to be the key for the Heat this season and they will go as far as he’s able to take them.
