The Miami Heat have consistently been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference over the past decade.
They saw a lot of success during the Dwayne Wade era, and that success was amplified when LeBron James joined the team.
While those two players are now long gone from the organization, the Heat have continued to see success yearly.
Jimmy Butler has been one of the biggest reasons for the team’s consistency, as he has brought a strong veteran presence to the organization.
Despite his valuable on-court impact, there were rumors throughout the offseason that Butler was potentially looking for a trade, hoping to bring his talents to another team.
While these rumors seemed to have legs for a time, Shams Charania has recently reassured fans that Butler isn’t going anywhere, at least for the 2024-2025 season.
“I’m told (Jimmy Butler) will not be signing an extension with the Heat or any other team ahead of his opt-out in 2025 free agency,” Charania said.

Charania also highlighted, “He has an affinity for Miami, and wants to be with the Heat next season.”
This is great news for Heat fans, as Butler will be on the roster for at least one more year.
His attitude is a bit surprising to some, as many players want to try to maximize every contract they can, either by sticking with their current team or jumping ship and finding a new one.
It will be interesting to see what this team looks like heading into the 2025-2026 season, but their strong core remains in tact for now.
