Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has become a bit of a character lately.

He stated that he wouldn’t even attend his own induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and then celebrated his new NBA 2K ranking.

Now, the star forward told Sportklub that he wouldn’t make any statement about Team USA’s performance at the FIBA Basketball World Cup because he doesn’t care about it (via Legion Hoops).

Jimmy Butler was recently asked about the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

His response: “I’m not making any statements here. I don’t care about the World Cup.”

That’s not what one would expect to hear from a guy who suited up for Team USA to play in the Olympics, but it’s right on point with his persona.

Butler has made it loud and clear that he doesn’t care about anything else other than winning an NBA championship, not even about the regular season or playoff seeding.

That’s not an orthodox way to think, but he’s made it to the NBA Finals twice in the past four seasons, so his mindset is definitely working out for him.

The Heat lost plenty of depth and talent in the offseason and don’t seem to be a strong contender next year, but they’ve always found ways to compete regardless of their roster.

Hopefully, for him, he’ll one day find himself as an NBA champion.

Otherwise, he will have missed out on so many of the perks that come with being one of the best players on Earth.
