Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat has always been a player solely focused on basketball and not all of the noise, speculation, and rumors that constantly surround it.
Therefore, it’s not a surprise to learn that he hasn’t heard people talk about the similarities between himself and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
Asked about these comparisons by Sports Illustrated, via Basketball on X and NBACentral, Butler quickly shot them down.
“First of all, I don’t hear anybody talking about me versus Tatum. You completely made that up,” Butler said.

Butler might not be aware of it but there are indeed fans who compare Butler and Tatum.
In fact, some believe that a rivalry is growing between Butler’s Heat and Tatum’s Celtics.
That would make plenty of sense because they faced off last postseason in the Eastern Conference Finals.
That battle was hard and long and ultimately resulted in Butler returning to the NBA Finals after seven exhausting games.
Will the Heat be able to make it that far again in the new season?
That will be even more difficult now that the Milwaukee Bucks have acquired Damian Lillard and the Celtics have landed Jrue Holiday.
However, the Heat have made a habit of surprising everyone and surpassing expectations.
When it comes to Butler and Tatum, there certainly are some similarities in the ways that they play.
They are both leaders of their team, have similar physical builds, and are strong offensive stars.
But more importantly, they are also both without championship rings and looking to change that in the season ahead.
