JJ Redick is now the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

One of the immediate things people may now be thinking about is which players can find success with him in charge.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are going to be chatted about the most.

But, a younger player such as guard Austin Reaves could certainly benefit from Redick’s guidance.

Redick himself recently chatted about how excited he is to coach Reaves.

“I cannot wait to coach Austin…He has a real mental toughness and competitive approach every single night,” Redick said via the team’s social media page.

Reaves went undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2021 but has made a name for himself as a solid role player over the last few seasons.

He played in all 82 games last season and started in 57 of them.

Additionally, he set career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and many other major categories.

Along with Davis, Reaves proved to be a very reliable running mate alongside LeBron James.

With Redick bringing in a player’s mentality to the head-coaching role, look for Reaves to greatly benefit.

This Lakers team has won just one title in the last 14 years and with the Boston Celtics recently taking over the league lead in championships with 18, even more pressure is on Los Angeles.

With LeBron James nearing 40 years of age and Anthony Davis entering the back-half of his prime, it will be up to players such as Reaves to take an even greater step in 2024.

That is part of the reason why the Redick hire is quite crucial.
