On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Chargers made superstar quarterback Justin Herbert a very wealthy man, with the team signing their young star under center to a massive contract extension worth $262.5 million.
This contract makes Herbert the highest-paid quarterback in the league and officially resets the market after Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts did the same before him.
With Herbert finally putting pen to paper, the next in line to set the bar for quarterback contracts is fellow superstar Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Burrow will undoubtedly be the next to reset the market with a lucrative contract extension, and although he’s in the middle of contract negotiations with the Bengals, he refuses to sit out training camp because he doesn’t want to waste any days, according to Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports.

Despite Burrow’s injury history, the approach to inking his new deal and refusing to sit out of training camp until it gets done is pretty on par with how he handles himself and why he’s become such a popular figure in Cincinnati and in the NFL in general.
It’ll be only a matter of time before it is announced that Burrow is the new highest-paid quarterback in the league, which sets things up for stars that come after him to get an even bigger contract down the line.
Once Burrow’s contract gets signed, the focus of the former Heisman Trophy winner will be guiding the Bengals to a title while trying to get the best of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs along the way.
