Heading into the 2023 NFL season, the Cincinnati Bengals had some concerns, with superstar quarterback Joe Burrow coming off a calf strain that he had suffered in training camp.
Fortunately for Burrow, the calf strain didn’t flare up again or become anything more severe like those injuries can easily do, which was a good sign for Cincinnati and the team’s chances of being a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the AFC.
However, Burrow only played in 10 games during the 2023 campaign due to needing season-ending surgery on his wrist, resulting in a devastating blow for the Bengals, who finished the season above .500 (9-8) but ended up in last place in the toughest division in the NFL (AFC North) and missed the NFL playoffs.
With the forgettable 2023 campaign behind them, a refreshed and healthy Burrow is looking forward to the 2024 NFL season, as he’s attacking the offseason as if he’s preparing to play in the Super Bowl, per the NFL’s Twitter account.
“We’re attacking it like I wanna be out there playing in February,” Burrow said.

If the 2023 NFL season is any indication, the Bengals aren’t the same team without their leader under center, as he brings an entirely different dynamic to the team when he’s on the field and connecting with superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
As long as Burrow is healthy and as motivated as he claims to be during this offseason, the Bengals will be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC and perhaps the biggest threat to the Baltimore Ravens within their division, even after a second NFL MVP season for Lamar Jackson.
