There were a few questions surrounding the Boston Celtics heading into the NBA Finals.

One of the most pressing was in regards to Kristaps Porzingis’ health, and if he was going to be able to play.

If not, fans and analysts were worried that the Celtics wouldn’t be able to keep up with the Dallas Mavericks, a potential detriment to their success in the series.

However, Porzingis was able to play in Game 1 and most of Game 2, providing a monumental impact on what this team was able to accomplish.

He was a spark plug on both ends of the court, making for two easy wins to start the series.

While it looked like Porzingis was back with a vengeance, he suffered an injury during Game 2 that put his future availability in jeopardy.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla was asked about Porzingis’ health in a press conference as fans awaited an update.

As shared by reporter Daniel Donabedian on Twitter, Mazulla said, “He’s trying. He’s doing everything he can.”

While the Celtics found a way to win Game 3 without Porzingis, his absence was evident in Game 4.

The Mavericks came out of the gates firing, and the Celtics didn’t have many answers for their potent offense.

Having Porzingis as another strong defender on the floor could have gone a long way for the Celtics, and he could have also provided another burst of scoring when the team needed him most.

Regardless of Porzingis’ injury status heading into Game 5, the Celtics need to stay focused and try to take care of business at home to close out the series.
