The Boston Celtics head into the NBA playoffs as the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a legitimate chance of going the distance as long as this talented squad led by superstar forward Jayson Tatum can stay productive and healthy.
In the first round of the playoffs, the Celtics drew the reigning Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat in what many believe will be a very physical series, even without superstar Jimmy Butler being able to play due to a knee injury suffered in the Play-In Tournament.
Although Game 1 was physical to a certain extent, Boston was able to come out on top against Miami with relative ease, as they beat Erik Spoelstra’s squad by 20.
However, there was a scary moment during Game 1 that likely made all Celtics fans hold their collective breath, with Tatum going down hard as the result of a dirty foul by Caleb Martin.
Fortunately, Tatum got up quickly and didn’t seem to be all that bothered by the hard foul, which head coach Joe Mazzulla reflected on after the game, via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston.
“I was waiting to see what he was going to do,” Mazzulla said.

Although Tatum’s head snapping back and seemingly hitting the floor looked really bad, he seemed to be alright and finished the game with a triple-double, as he dropped 23 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Even though the Celtics are still a very talented team without Tatum on the floor, Boston would’ve suffered a major blow had he gone down with an injury.
