As the NBA Finals shift to the American Airlines Center for Game 3 and Game 4, the Boston Celtics have a commanding 2-0 series lead, with many believing this team, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, might be able to pull off the sweep against Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks.
Although the Celtics are in control of this series for the time being, Boston suffered a significant blow on Tuesday, with a concerning injury report coming out about the status of veteran forward Kristaps Porzingis.
After sitting all but four games of the NBA playoffs before the Finals, Porzingis was finally able to get back on the floor for Game 1, where he played a pivotal role in the Celtics getting their first win of the series with 20 points off the bench for Boston.
Unfortunately, Porzingis suffered a rare injury in Game 2 at TD Garden, which has put his status for Game 3 and the rest of the series in doubt, even though Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla claims the veteran scorer will do anything he can to get back on the floor, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
“He’s doing anything and everything he can to be able to play,” Mazzulla said.
Joe Mazzulla says this is a “serious injury” and the Celtics’ medical team will make the decision about Kristaps Porzingis’ availability. “He’s doing anything and everything he can to be able to play,” Mazzulla said. https://t.co/bgl8lLCupi

If Porzingis is unable to take the floor in Game 3 in Dallas, it could be a game-changer for the series, and the Mavericks may look to take advantage of it, especially with the next two games being played in Dallas.
Porzingis has been a difference-maker in this series and losing him to another injury could prove costly to the Celtics’ chances of closing this series out.
