During Game 4 against the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis suffered an injury in his right leg and hasn’t played since.

Due to his history of injuries and his importance on the roster, Celtics fans want Porzingis back as soon as possible.

But what is his timeline for a return?

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla didn’t get too specific when talking to Zolak & Bertrand, via NBC Sports Boston.

But he did say that Porzingis’ injury is “better than we thought” and he is making progress toward a return.

“It’s definitely better than we thought”

“The one thing about KP is I don’t know what his timetable is, but I know his mentality. He really pushes himself to get back as quickly as he can,” Mazzulla said.

Porzingis is unquestionably a huge part of the team’s lineup and is Boston’s biggest rim protector and floor spacer.

Without him, the team will have to turn to Al Horford a lot more and they hope his years of experience and basketball IQ will help them fight through their next series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

That series begins on Tuesday night and Game 1 will be closely watched.

Fans will want to see how the Celtics work without Porzingis, especially against a team that can sometimes shoot so well from all over the court.

The Celtics are favorites to win over the Cavaliers, which means they’d earn their entry to the Eastern Conference Finals.

It is assumed that Porzingis will be back in time for that very important series.

Mazzulla won’t reveal when the Celtics will see Porzingis again but he is giving fans reason to be hopeful.

He isn’t back yet but he should be back soon.
