The Boston Celtics have two of the best young players in the game.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are two All-NBA and All-Star-caliber guys, yet they don’t get the recognition they deserve.
The fact that they’ve constantly fallen short in the playoffs has somewhat outweighed their solid numbers.
With that in mind, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla sounded off on the criticism they get, stating that it’s just not fair (via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).
“The whole thing about that really pisses me off & I think it’s unfair to both of them”

Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between.
It’s a fact that being a star player for the Celtics comes with steep responsibilities and plenty of media scrutiny.
It’s also a fact that Tatum and Brown are two of the best players in the game, and other young players aren’t measured to the same standards.
What would be a successful season for most young players and teams is a failure for Tatum and Brown, and that’s simply not fair.
They’ve gotten further and accomplished more than most players their age already.
However, it’s also a fact that they’ve proven that they’re more than capable of being impactful stars, which is why they get singled out when they don’t live up to that level in the playoffs.
But that’s the deal when you play for the Celtics, and you either live up to it or you don’t.
