The Philadelphia 76ers couldn’t take the next step this season.
Joel Embiid looked poised to have his second consecutive MVP campaign, but a knee injury derailed their hopes.
He was never able to get back to full strength and that hurt them in their postseason positioning and the playoffs.
However, the Sixers are now in a position to give him yet another elite sidekick.
Daryl Morey has stacked up assets and piled up plenty of cap space to make a run at a max-caliber player in the offseason, and most signs point at Paul George.
Needless to say, Embiid is well aware of all the rumors and the talk, and he tried to do his part to recruit George on live television.
Talking during their appearance at the NBA Finals, Embiid discussed the Sixers’ need and plans to add more players into the mix, and he hilariously side-eyed George multiple times (Via Jake Marc 23).

Embiid is the ultimate troll, and someone who plays by his own rules.
Still, he knows better than to get into trouble for messing with the league’s tampering policy, so he found a way to go around it.
George could become an unrestricted free agent.
He’s reportedly not close to signing a contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he would be a tailor-made fit next to Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Of course, whether he’ll be willing to move back to the East and leave his hometown at this point in his career remains to be seen, but Embiid is going to do his part to recruit him anyway.
